ASCAAD '2005 is the first of an incoming series of international conferences for quality research in computer aided architectural design in the Arab World. It provides opportunities for researchers in many fields that make up this interdisciplinary research area to share their ideas and contributions.

The process of architectural design aims to define a physical form that will achieve certain functional and behavioral objectives in a particular context. The use of computers at various stages of the design process has implications for the way designing is carried out. Research in CAAD especially electronic design (e-design) has the potential to significantly enhance both the architectural design process and its outcome and the architectural education. The theme of the 2005 conference is “e-Design in Architecture”. This captures the role of this conference as a forum of diverse range of information and computational methods broadly applied to design and architecture.

The conference will be held in the College of Environmental Design, King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Dhahran. The city of Dhahran is located in the eastern region of Saudi Arabia.
