The Arab Society for Computation in Architecture, Art and Design (ASCAAD) invites expressions of interest from institutions wishing to host its 2027 international conference. ASCAAD brings together researchers, educators, students, and practitioners to advance computational design in architecture, art, and related fields. Hosting the conference offers an opportunity to contribute to international academic dialogue, showcase local research and creative practice, and strengthen connections across the computational design community.
We welcome proposals from individual institutions wishing to host the conference. Proposals should demonstrate how the conference would engage local and regional communities while encouraging international participation.
Initial Expression of Interest:
Applicants should submit a PDF of no more than three pages addressing the following:
1. Host institution and location: Identify the institution, city, country, and relevant websites. Explain why the proposed setting would be suitable for ASCAAD 2027.
2. Organizing Team: Identify the proposed conference chair or co-chairs and key team members, including affiliations, contact information, and brief descriptions of relevant experience.
3. Conference Vision: Outline a preliminary theme and its contribution to computational design research, education, or practice. Describe opportunities to connect the conference with local expertise and regional priorities.
4. Proposed Dates and Facilities: Suggest dates in 2027 and describe available spaces for presentations, workshops, exhibitions, and informal exchange. Note relevant laboratories, equipment, and technical support.
5. Institutional Support and Resources: Describe anticipated administrative, staffing, financial, or in-kind support, including access to event management and planning platforms. Indicate which commitments are confirmed and which remain under discussion. Identify potential partners or sponsors.
6. Participation and Accessibility: Outline travel connections, accommodation options, and measures to support affordable participation, particularly for students and researchers from the region.
Provide a preliminary budget for a conference with 100–150 attendees. A detailed breakdown is not required at this stage.
Host Responsibilities:
The selected institution will work with the ASCAAD Board to establish the conference program, delivery schedule, and division of responsibilities. The local organizing team will coordinate venues, registration, technical support, participant information, hospitality, local activities, and logistics for at least two keynote speakers. The host and ASCAAD will agree on arrangements for the scientific program, peer review, proceedings production, workshops, publicity, and financial management. Responsibilities, institutional commitments, and financial arrangements will be documented in a hosting agreement before the appointment is finalized.
Review and Selection:
The ASCAAD Board will assess expressions of interest based on academic relevance, organizing capacity, institutional commitment, regional engagement, accessibility, and practical feasibility.
Shortlisted teams will be invited to discuss their proposals with the Board and prepare a detailed submission covering the program, delivery timetable, confirmed institutional support, and a budget identifying expected income, expenditure, and financial responsibilities.
